Because my Internet connection wasn’t working, and it was already ten o’clock at night, and there was no way I was going to go somewhere to find free WiFi to connect. So I didn’t have a post yesterday. Which, I suppose, means I’ve failed in my determination to post every single day, but I don’t really care, since it was out of my hands.
Anyhow, my post yesterday would probably have been something along the lines of “New Glasses” with a fair amount of moaning about how no matter where I position them, the new frames feel like they’re chafing somewhere. And the pads are too tight on the bridge of my nose. If they’re not significantly more comfortable by Monday, I am definitely going back in to see if they can be readjusted. (Ugh, assuming they’re not taking all next week off. That would be a freakin’ disaster, ’cause I don’t think these things are going to get comfortable just by getting used to them.)
Hopefully, by that point I’ll no longer feel like the ground is a different distance from my head than it used to be. I got dizzy just trying to step down off the curb outside the doctor’s office yesterday. That was freakish. (But I haven’t gotten new glasses since 2010, so…it’s understandable that there would be some awkwardness. The weird part is that the change in prescription is actually fairly minimal, and if I hadn’t wrecked up my old frames, the doctor wouldn’t have even recommended getting a new pair. That would have been for the best, it turns out…)
So, that covers yesterday’s missed post. To cover today’s post, I’ll gripe a little about how because of all the work I did for that paper for my class (and the recovery time) I don’t have time to re-read The Hobbit again before going back to see part three of the movie adaptation. (It’s a family thing: we’re re-watching part one tomorrow, then part two the next day, and then finally getting to part three on Tuesday.) Of course, since I’ve read the book some eight or nine times already, this should not feel like a huge hole in my life, and yet…
